Why outdoor Wi-Fi is genuinely harder
A regular indoor access point will fail fast if you mount it outside. Humidity, rain, dust, and direct sunlight all wear down the internal electronics within months. On top of that, outdoor coverage needs different transmit power and antenna design compared to an indoor unit.
What does an IP67 rating actually mean?
IP67 is an international standard for how well a device resists dust and water. The first digit (6) means the device is completely dust-tight. The second digit (7) means it can survive being submerged in up to 1 meter of water for 30 minutes. For an outdoor access point, that translates to a device you can mount permanently outside without extra protection, and it'll hold up through heavy rain without issue.
