What is point-to-point (P2P) wireless?

P2P wireless connects two locations using a pair of access points fitted with directional antennas, forming a high-speed wireless data bridge. Instead of digging trenches or running fiber across a road, both ends just need equipment pointed at each other.

When P2P beats fiber optic

Fiber still wins for very high bandwidth needs and multi-decade permanence, but for the everyday case of connecting two business locations, modern P2P wireless delivers more than enough speed.

What affects range and reliability

Three things matter most for P2P performance: line of sight (a clear path with no buildings or trees blocking the two points), antenna gain (higher dBi means longer, more stable range), and weather (heavy rain can slightly affect high-frequency signals, which is why outdoor units need an IP67 rating).
